Privacy policy

Last updated: September 11, 2025

I’m Rachel, the goldsmith behind Rachel Swan Goldsmith. I run this online store and website and provide all related information, features, tools, products and services (the “Services”). I want you to feel confident shopping with me, so this Privacy Policy explains what I collect, why I collect it, how I use it, who I share it with, and the choices you have.

If anything here conflicts with my Terms of Service regarding privacy, this Privacy Policy will apply.

Controller: Rachel Swan Goldsmith
Address: Marlay Park Courtyard, Grange Road, Dublin 16, D16 KV99, Ireland
Email: info@rachelswan.com

If you have questions or want to exercise your privacy rights, please contact me using the details above.

What I collect (and why)

I only collect the information needed to run the shop, fulfil your order, and improve your experience.

Information you give me

  • Contact details (name, email, phone) – to send order confirmations and updates, and to reach you if needed.

  • Addresses (billing and delivery) – to verify payment and deliver your parcel.

  • Account details (if you create an account) – username, password, saved preferences/addresses.

  • Order details – items viewed, added to cart or purchased, returns/exchanges, and communications with me (e.g., customer support messages).

  • Payment details – your payment is processed securely by my payment providers; I don’t store your full card number on my website.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data – IP address, browser and device type, pages you visit, interactions with the site.

  • Cookies and similar technologies – to keep your cart working, remember preferences, improve the site, and (if you consent) measure performance and show relevant ads.

I’ll only use your information for the purposes described below or as otherwise explained to you at the time of collection.

How I use your information

  • To provide the Services – process and fulfil orders, take payment, arrange shipping and returns, provide customer support, remember preferences, and manage your account.

  • To personalise and improve – recommend products, understand how the site is used, fix issues and develop new features.

  • To communicate with you – send order and shipping updates, and (with your consent where required) send marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time.

  • To keep things secure – prevent fraud and abuse, authenticate accounts and protect the Services.

  • To comply with the law – tax and accounting, responding to lawful requests, and enforcing my terms and policies.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, I process personal information based on: performance of a contract (e.g., to fulfil your order), consent (e.g., non-essential cookies/marketing), legitimate interests (e.g., to improve the site and prevent fraud), and legal obligation (e.g., tax/accounting).

Who I share information with

I don’t sell your personal information. I only share what’s necessary to run the shop:

  • Shopify (my ecommerce platform). I run this website on Shopify, which provides the secure platform I use to host the site, process orders and keep everything running smoothly. Shopify processes some personal data on my behalf (for example hosting, analytics and security) and may, for certain enhanced features, act as an independent controller. Learn more: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.

  • Payment processors and banks. To securely process your payment (I don’t see or store your full card number).

  • Couriers and fulfilment partners. To deliver your order and handle returns/exchanges.

  • IT, analytics and marketing tools. To operate the site, measure performance and (where permitted) run marketing.

  • Professional advisers and authorities. Where necessary for legal, tax, or compliance reasons, or to protect my rights and the rights of others.

  • Business transfers. If I am involved in a reorganisation, merger or sale, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies keep the site secure and functional (e.g., cart, checkout, login).

  • Analytics/performance cookies help me understand site usage and improve the experience.

  • Advertising cookies (if enabled) help show relevant ads and measure their performance.

Where required, I’ll ask for your consent for non-essential cookies. You can manage your preferences via my cookie banner and your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.

International transfers

I may transfer, store and process your information outside your country (for example, to Canada or the United States). When I do, I rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms, unless the destination country has been deemed to provide adequate protection.

Security

I use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. The site uses SSL encryption (look for the padlock in your browser). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I can’t guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account details safe and let me know right away if you suspect unauthorised access.

Data retention

I keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services and for other legitimate purposes, including to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the data type and purpose.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access/Know the personal information I hold about you.

  • Delete/Erase your personal information.

  • Correct inaccurate information.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Portability – receive your information in a portable format or request I transfer it to another organisation.

  • Withdraw consent where I rely on consent (this won’t affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal).

Marketing: You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in my emails.
Cookies: Manage your preferences via the cookie banner and your browser settings.

To exercise your rights, email info@rachelswan.com. I may need to verify your identity. You may also authorise someone to act on your behalf where the law allows.

EEA/UK complaints

You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Ireland, that’s the Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie). I’d appreciate the chance to resolve concerns directly first.

Additional US state rights (if applicable)

If you live in a US state with privacy laws (e.g., CA/CO/CT/VA), you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing like “targeted advertising” (sometimes called “sharing”). I do not sell personal information. If I engage in “sharing” for targeted advertising, you can opt out by adjusting cookie preferences and by contacting me at info@rachelswan.com.

Children’s data

My Services are not directed to children, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age requiring parental consent in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so I can delete it.

Third-party links and social media

My site may link to third-party websites and services. Their privacy practices are independent of mine; please review their policies. Content you share on social platforms may be visible to others according to your settings and the platform’s terms.

Changes to this Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to my practices or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. I’ll post the updated version here and update the “Last updated” date above. Where required by law, I’ll provide additional notice.
